On Monday, April 21, we’re turning our coffee service into an opportunity to support cancer research and our community. We’re making the switch to Callie’s Coffee! Founded several years ago, Callie’s Coffee was created by a young girl who lost a friend, Ben, to neuroblastoma. Ben, was 3-1/2. Callie’s experience at 7 years old inspired her to donate the contents of her piggy bank to a foundation established in Ben’s name.
And then she had the idea to sell coffee to further a cause. Today, Callie’s Coffee is a full-fledged company based here in Seattle. They give 100% of the profits of all coffee sold to the Ben Towne Foundation, dedicated to pediatric cancer research. Callie’s team has diligently selected great tasting coffee (being Seattleites themselves) and merged it with a way to make a difference in their community. Watch An Interview with Callie
About Ben Towne Foundation
All profits from the purchase of Callie’s products go 100% toward research at Ben Towne Foundation. In 2010, Ben Towne Foundation was started in Seattle Washington by Jeff and Carin Towne. The mission of the Foundation is to accelerate the pace of pediatric cancer research – changing the way childhood cancers are treated and cured. In 2012, Seattle Children’s Research Institute honored the Foundation by renaming its Cancer Research Center: Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research.
According to Seattle Children’s Hospital, money raised by Ben Towne Foundation is now covering 80 percent of research staff salaries and materials for clinical trial development at Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research. This makes Ben Towne Foundation unique in that all costs are fully supported, which is why all profits from Callie’s Coffee go toward research.
