Microneedling is a safe, chemical-free, minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin (also known as collagen induction therapy) that Gene Juarez is proud to be offering starting August 23. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures on the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Because it can be performed on all skin colors and types, it is sometimes the preferred treatment over laser as there is no risk of burning the patient.
What are the results?
Microneedling is the latest skincare treatment that can reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, sun damage, scarring, and improve overall skin texture. The treatment triggers your skin’s ability to self-repair by producing new collagen and elastin. The results come naturally through your skin’s repair process. In minimal to no downtime, your skin will become firmer, and more youthful with this safe treatment.
The procedure is well tolerated by patients with minimal downtime, and can be easily personalized by going deeper on some areas where skin damage requires a more strong approach.
What is treatment after-care like?
For the first 24 hours, stay away from using any alcohol-based products as they will make your skin very dry and use as little makeup as possible. Also avoid sunscreen, sun block, tanning lotion, facial peel or any skincare products that contain irritating and toxic ingredients. Stay away from direct sunlight for 24 hours after the procedure. Your Gene Juarez Skincare therapist will suggest you the best products to maximize the effects for the treatment.
Do I need multiple treatments?
As you would imagine, the speed at which you will get visible results depends upon what you are trying to treat along with how far the body has to remodel the area in question. The process of skin remodeling can continue for several weeks or months after each microneedling session, so changes can be dramatic after only a few sessions. You can go treatment by treatment or get a series for a save in costs.
Does it hurt?
Using the microneedling pen lightly gives a tingling and “prickly” sensation. Although it does not feel good, it is not painful either – your face is more sensitive to it than your body. You may see a temporary reddening for up to 1-2 hours after treatment and it may create a sensation similar to a mild sunburn.

What happens during a Microneedling Treatment?
A topical numbing cream is applied to the areas being treated. Fine needles punctures the skin to create channels or to micro-wound the skin, which stimulates cell regeneration. Growth factors and collagen boosters are delivered into the skin for enhanced rejuvenation. You can resume regular activity within a few days depending on the depth of penetration of the needles.
What to expect after a Microneedling Treatment:
– You may experience dryness, scaling, redness and swelling that can last from 24 hours to several days depending on the depth of penetration.
– Sun protection is necessary for several weeks after the treatment.
– Rejuvenation of the skin may be seen as soon as 2 weeks and as long as 6 months after the procedure.
How many Treatments will I need?
The number of Microneedling Treatments depends on the condition of your skin and desired results. Our Master Estheticians will evaluate your skin condition and areas of concern to determine the best treatment plan for you.
