All About Kybella

Kybella is a groundbreaking, non-invasive treatment for submental fullness. In the past, the only effective options for reducing submental fullness were surgical procedures or liposuction; however, now this fat can be eliminated through a series of simple injections. P?r Skin Clinic at Gene Juarez in Seattle and Bellevue is excited to offer the brand-new FDA-approved treatment for stubborn fat under the chin!

Kybella consists of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When Kybella is injected into the fat under the chin, the fat cells are targeted and destroyed, then naturally eliminated by the body. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat again.

A series of injections are recommended, however the number of sessions will depend on your aesthetic goals and your medical providers recommendations. Following a Kybella treatment, patients may experience temporary bruising, swelling, or numbness; however, these side effects are short-lived and patients can go right back to their normal activities. Patients will begin to see results in the following 6-8 weeks after their treatment.

 Is Kybella right for me?

Submental fullness can occur even if a person is not overweight and tend to make someone seem heavier than they really are.  An exercise routine that targets submental fullness does not exist.  If lifestyle and diet changes haven’t reduced the fat under your chin, chances are it’s not going to improve without a fight! If you are concerned with fat underneath your chin, Kybella could be perfect for you.

However, if a person is suffering from loose or sagging skin under the chin, Kybella may not be the right choice. Kybella targets fat cells, not loose skin. If you have sagging skin under your chin you’d like to get rid of, Ultherapy, a skin tightening procedure, may be better for you.
