Meet Mercedes & Learn About Our NEW Kitsap Location!

In about three weeks, Gene Juarez will open its 10th Salon in the Kitsap Mall. My name is Mercedes, and I feel so lucky to be the General Manager of our new Silverdale location. I have worked at Gene Juarez for nine years; I started at our Tacoma location, and have worked at Southcenter, and Downtown as well.

One of the best things that I have done over the years is build relationships with our guests and staff, and had the opportunity to meet some truly amazing people. Our guests inspire me to ask the most of our Artists in providing the best beauty services around. It is my pleasure to meet them, get to know them, understand their life and lifestyle, and help to recommend the right person for them to achieve their desired look.

Now we are heading over to “the Peninsula” where the word is that we are welcomed and anticipated.  This makes me even more excited as we are so looking forward to our opening day. We are working quickly and diligently to build a gorgeous, contemporary, and comfortable salon for our staff and guests to enjoy. We are also working to bring in the most talented hair designers, colorists, skincare therapists, and makeup artists. Recently we met with a group of fabulous women from various walks of life who live on the peninsula to give us their thoughts, and they gave us so many great ideas that we are incorporating into our new salon. Specifically, starting at noon on Monday, November 8th, we will have an opening celebration full of complimentary mini services, tours, gifts, and a chance to win more gifts and a “BE ALLURING” package, which includes Couture Cut or style, full makeup application, and a facial! We will have light appetizers and beverages to make our guests feel comfortable and welcome in our home. I look forward to working with local businesses in the area to become a contributing part of the community.

I am so happy that we are officially taking reservations for the Kitsap location. I look forward to meeting our new guests at the salon opening on November 8th. Sporadically I will also be in front of our new location in the mall to meet and give out any information to let you know all that Gene Juarez has to offer. We will open the salon with our holiday set up which means that you will be able to purchase the coveted holiday gift card and holiday packaging right away. Please stop by to say hello and I can give you a tour! I can’t wait to meet you!

Tips and Tricks to Think Pink!

It’s October, which means it’s time to THINK PINK! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we would like to highlight some healthy ways to improve energy levels, boost your immune system, and detoxify your body!

Pep up with Peppermint!
Enhance your energy levels with H. Gillerman Organics Tension Remedy Essential Oil. Place a few drops of the peppermint and lavender oil on the base of the skull and within 5-10 minutes experience a refreshing and mind clearing sensation that also fights nausea and eliminates tension headaches.

Eat Five Servings of Fruits and Veggies a Day
…That’s what the American Cancer Society recommends, but if you’re finding this hard, Pure Inventions all-natural Fruit Extracts has the solution in just one glass of water. They have zero calories and zero sugar, yet deliver a therapeutic dose of anti-oxidants to attack cancer causing free radicals, boost energy levels, enhance digestion, and improve brain functioning. They come in a variety of delicious flavors like Blueberry White Tea and Cranberry Elderberry. It’s easy; just mix 2 droppers of your chosen fruit extract to a glass of water, drink, and enjoy!

Waiting to Exhale?
Do you ever notice your breath and how it makes you feel? Try taking deep abdominal breaths that are soft and natural that fill your lungs from the bottom up. Each of these breaths stimulates increased lymphatic circulation, carrying our white blood cells. These are the cells of our immune system, our first line of defense against disease. Exercise and meditation, especially yoga, is particularly beneficial for deepening our breathing and enhancing our immune systems. However, if you feel you just can’t relax into your breath or are constantly having that I’m-coming-down-with-something sluggishness, I would recommend our Aroma Remedy Pure Breathing Massage. Your therapist will focus on relaxing tense upper body muscles that hold and restrict your breath, while targeted aromatherapy clears congestion in your sinuses and chest, making you feel refreshed, calm, and revived.

Brush Away Toxins!
The skin is the largest, most important eliminative organ in the body and is responsible for one quarter of the body’s detoxification each day! Dry Brushing brings a rapid amount of blood flow to the skin’s surface to flush away toxins and encourage new cell development. We recommend daily dry brushing with an all-natural vegetable fiber brush, such as the Tampico Skin Brush.

A Daily Skin Brushing Routine (2-3 minutes):

  • Brush your body using gentle, quick, and overlapping strokes. Move in a singular and upward direction starting from the outermost points of the body and moving towards the heart.
  • Start at your feet brushing up your legs
  • Brush your hands and brush up your arms
  • Brush across your shoulders
  • Brush down the front and back of your torso
  • Cover all surfaces of your skin except your face
  • When you’re finished, shower or bathe

Your body will have just received a blood flush equal to 30 minutes of cardio, your skin will be more smooth and toned, and you’ll feel light and cleansed.

By doing some of these five easy tips and tricks, you can easily improve your energy, boost your immune system, and detoxify your body, as well as reduce your risk for breast cancer!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

At Gene Juarez we dedicate ourselves to supporting the causes of women and children. Therefore, we are delighted to participate in numerous activities within our salons and spas to help raise money for research and breed awareness for the crucial fight against breast cancer. We do this for our many guests and staff members who have been touched by this disease in some way.

Mammograms- GJ Spa Style

Once again this October, we will be hosting the Mobile Mammagram screenings sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Evergreen Hospital. Seven of our locations will host the screenings in our luxurious spas, and this includes a relaxing pre-screening foot soak or hand treatment, a soothing cup of tea or coffee, and a special parting gift bag containing products and offers. Two of our locations will host space for the Mobile Mammogram Coach in the parking area and invite participants to await their screening in our lovely lobbies, while also receiving warm complimentary beverages and a parting gift bag. Click here for more information, times and places. Please come in for this critical preventative measure.

Gene Juarez and our Vendors are Donating to the Cause

This year we have a record number of vendors selling “pink” and donating a portion of, or all of, the proceeds to benefit breast cancer, and we are joining in too. Come visit us and look for the “pink products” at Gene Juarez to include:

  • Our own Gene Juarez Hair Care Collection and Raspberry Tote
  • Pink Babyliss Curling Iron and Flat Iron,
  • SkinAuthority Go Pink Go Gorgeous Kit
  • Arcona’s Magic Pink Ice
  • The Clarisonic Pink Mia
  • A Pink Nuface
  • Essiie “We Can Do It” Pink Polish
  • Seche Vite’s “I AM Strong” Pink Base Coats

… and more.

We would be happy to introduce you to our great hair care line, or any of these other excellent products in support of raising contributions to go to breast cancer charities.

Take care of you!

As women who live beautiful but busy lives, we have to take care of ourselves before we can give to the others that depend on us. Please find a way to take the preventative measures you need to take to avoid a terrible tragedy with breast cancer, while at the same time giving to support others who need our help in coping with it. We welcome your participation with us, and please make the time for your mammogram today.
