Kitchen Skin Care

Between work and family, it can be difficult to find time to make it to the spa. As your partners in beauty and well-being, we want to provide you with a couple inexpensive at-home solutions to tide you over until you can take a break from your busy schedule and relax in the care of the Northwest’s expert therapists at Gene Juarez. Always test a small area of skin with these treatments before using on entire surface. If redness or irritation occurs, cleanse the skin thoroughly and discontinue use.

Body Scrub
Exfoliate your skin and invigorate your spirit with this simple body scrub. Mix 2 tbsp of one of the following with 3 tbsp of olive oil and 5 to 10 drops of your favorite essential oil:

Coffee grounds (to increase circulation and detoxify skin)
Sugar (to soften and hydrate skin)
Salt (to smooth and flush impurities from skin)

Apply scrub to dampened skin while in the shower. Concentrate on gentle circular motions to remove dead skin and increase luminosity, while avoiding the more sensitive skin found on the face and chest. Rinse thoroughly and apply your favorite moisturizer. We recommend Sundari Neem & Blood Orange Lotion for normal to oil skin and Mama Mio Super Rich Body Cream for normal to dry skin.

Facial
Relax and renew your skin with a facial for sensitive, dry, or lackluster skin! Employ the following ingredients to achieve your desired results:

Mix milk, honey, and plain, dry oatmeal (to sooth sensitive skin)
Mash avocados (to hydrate dry skin)
Separated egg whites (to firm and tighten skin)

Apply liberally in an upward motion to cleansed face, while avoiding eyes and mouth. For increased relaxation and reduced puffiness, place cucumber slices over closed eyelids. Allow facial to rest on skin for 5 to 8 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove and pat skin dry.

While these are wonderfully simple ways to refresh your skin, they are no substitution for expert care.
