October Fashion Shows

Team Artistic in NY
We have just returned from New York where the Gene Juarez Team Artistic team was entrenched in spring 2009 planning. Our mission: casting models, communing with fashionistas, and getting inspiration off the streets!

But before NY we had to make fall fashion come to life right here in the great Pacific Northwest. Team Artistic has had the pleasure of translating our vision for two major fashion events. On October 10th we made magic happen for the Bellevue Club Fall Fashion Luncheon and Luly Yang Couture 20/20 Runway Show (benefiting Camp Korey for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses).

For the Bellevue Club, we presented four looks from our Fall Campaign “Shape.Shine.Style”. We placed a blonde, redhead, honey brown, and raven brunette on the runway. Team Artistic rushed the stage to transform the models from day to evening looks in a matter of 10 minutes! Music pumping and flashbulbs going off, it was the fashion moment of the day! Our mission was to show the ease at which a woman could leave a day at the office or running the kids around and transform her look with a change of a lip and easily pull back her hair in the modern low braided bun of the moment.

Now Luly Yang is the closest to a NY fashion show this city has ever seen! Luly Yang Couture hosts a benefit fashion extravaganza each year in the fall. We were asked to do the hair and makeup for 22 of Luly’s best clients who walked the runway during the cocktail hour along with 5 fantastic kids from Camp Korey! Then the fashion really rocked with Luly’s 20/20 Collection. Team Artistic styled 16 professional models in beautiful Samurai rope braids with smokey eyes and pale lips! The final look was intelligent drama and enough sexy to go around. Please visit Team Photogenic for a look at all the runway photos and be sure to check out the ‘Couture Fashion Show’ segment.

While celebrating Fall, the salons are in full swing with rich hair color and luscious locks walking out our doors…I now turn to Spring 2009 preparations.

Fall Fashion

Welcome to fall. What a fabulous season! The leaves begin to change and there is a crisp chill in the air. When we think of fall, we think of how we get to change our wardrobe, makeup and hair for the season. For me, I always like to choose a new shade of lipstick, richen the color of my hair and change the shape a bit, inpired by what seems to be oh so current and fresh.

There is excitement in what the fashion magazines are showing us and how we interpret and incorporate them into our wardrobes. This fall, we are seeing some really beautiful trends walking the runway. Designers like Lanvin and Balenciaga are showcasing the architecture and structure of their craft. As we see this trend develop, it only seemed fitting that we create a soft silhouette to complement these shapes. Therefore, we created long languid waves that focused on smooth, shiny hair in rich, deep, autumn hues. The antithesis of those shapes were designers like Gucci and Dries van Noten who created layers of flowing, detail-rich, beatnik shapes that are more free spirited. Our feeling is that these types of clothing are best suited when paired with a bigger silhouette to the hair and a drier texture that helps to communicate the independence that a woman who embraces this style feels. And for evening wear, it is all about elegance, like on the runways of Prada and Alexander McQueen. Evening is all about lace and femininity—we feel it is important to wear your hair as beautifully and coiffed as your gown, so we created mazes of braids that mix smooth, silky hair on the scalp with texture in the braids.

Welcome! from Team Artistic

We, at Gene Juarez would like to introduce ourselves and talk to you about fall fashion as it relates to your hair and beauty needs. Whether you see yourself as a woman of classic style (beauty), one who follows the runway to a tee (fashion), or someone who creates your own unique style (trend), we would like to help you interpret what is on the runway this season to fit your personal style. In the coming weeks, we will post blogs about current trends, hair and makeup how-to's, a behind the scenes look of a runway show, product tips and a Q&A with one of the artists on Team Artistic.

How do these fashion trends relate to how you will be styling your hair and makeup this season? We believe that every woman likes to look as relevant as she is comfortable with. Whether you decide to wear a pencil skirt to the office or layer your favorite chunky sweater with a flowing skirt, we want your hair and makeup to feel as current as your style. So if you feel like it is time for you to change your hair completely or you just want to make an adjustment to your current style, we are ready to help you find just the right look for your personal style.

We hope to see you soon in one of our salons, for a blowdry, to color your locks to a richer shade of brown or for a major style change. Be sure to let your Artist know that you are ready to embrace your personal style. Whether it is fashion, beauty or trend, we are here for you! Until next time.
